Avoid A Security Breach This Christmas

Don’t let Thieves Steal the Joy out of Your Christmas

Consider your ‘Kerbside security’

During the festive period one of the tell-tell signs that organised or opportunist thieves are on the look out for are as follows:

  • Large, branded boxes placed outside for general recycling collection (for example boxes for bikes/ computers/ technology) next to recycling bins

  • Decorated Christmas trees in the front window of your house with wrapped presents and parcels around the tree – a highly tempting shopping opportunity for thieves.

  • Running cables for outdoor lights through partially open windows should be avoided.

  • We are reaching the peak parcel delivery time in the run up to the festive season. Specifying “safe place” delivery to leave your goods could be risky, particularly if that safe place is near your doorstep or somewhere visible. This is a field day to opportunistic thieves and if your parcel goes missing you might not be compensated for it. Try, wherever possible to have your goods delivered to a relative or trusted friend who will be in to take delivery.

  • Recycling bins overflowing with packaging

These are green lights to savvy thieves, so don’t be a victim of crime, dispose of large cardboard boxes, don’t leave them out waiting for the general recycling bins to be emptied.

Here at S4B in East Grinstead we offer a free shredding service for Cardboard boxes brought in any time Monday to Friday, during the working hours of 08.30 to 4.00pm, direct to our premises at RH19 2HL.
