Although our main core business at S4B is archive storage and secure shredding of paper. People always ask about what else we can recycle. This has led us onto recycling other items such as uniforms, credit cards, cardboard, VHS tapes, books and magazines to name a few. Our philosophy is to turn a ‘can’t do’ into a ‘can do’ and turn a ‘don’t know’ into a ‘do know’. The key thing with recycling is to add value to our clients and make us easy to deal with.
Fully Compliant
This year everything seems to have changed, more of our client have had to adapt to working from home as well as the office. The good news is that has made no difference to our services, we have ensured they remained compliant especially in the event of disposing of old IT.
We decided to increase our compliance by obtaining BS-EN 15713 Certification, which brings the following benefits to our clients;
- Reduced risk or damage to reputation
- Enhance their corporate and social responsibility
- Increase customer confidence
It is important to us that our clients know that we take our responsibilities seriously, recycling to the very end.
Pathway to Compliance
If you run a business and want to be 100% compliant, we hold a T11 exemption under WEEE (Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Regulations which enables S4B to collect and dismantle IT and various types of WEEE items. Our first rule is always to reuse wherever possible, but in most cases the equipment is outdated or now obsolete.
From the moment we collect you can rest assured that your equipment is in safe hands, it is securely tracked via our vehicle tracking system throughout its journey back to our warehouse. Once serial numbers are recorded and checked all data bearing items such as hard drives are removed and securely shredded within 24 hours. The remaining equipment is processed and separated into waste streams such as towers, servers, screens, keyboards and cables. The next step of the pathway is to a refiner.
Final Process
The amount of work it takes to remove basic elements from IT requires a huge commercial operation to refine. We offer a fully compliant route to the refiners with waste transfer notes accompanying the equipment.
We use one of the UK’s leading large-scale waste electronic and electrical (WEEE) recycling specialists who dismantle, shred or break the non-data bearing items, again with full reporting to S4B.
We operate under three key business principles
- Responsible and ethical recycling
- Corporate brand integrity
- Personal and secure services
All S4B clients are provided with a fully auditable trail, certificates of destruction and, where applicable waste transfer documentation.
