Our Community Shredding Day on 10 October 2026 was a fantastic success, helping local residents dispose of confidential paperwork securely while discovering more about the environmental services available from S4B Group.
We were delighted to welcome visitors to our Community Shredding Day in East Grinstead. The event gave local residents the opportunity to have confidential paperwork securely shredded, learn more about responsible recycling and find out what S4B Group does.
And what a day it was!
Impressive results for the community and the environment
Together, we collected an impressive 2,465 kg of paper for shredding and recycling, alongside 374 kg of IT equipment.
These figures demonstrate the value of providing a convenient, local service that helps people handle confidential documents securely and dispose of unwanted IT equipment responsibly.
Our environmental impact figures also highlight the difference that responsible resource management can make:
- 6,532 litres of water saved
- 986 kWh of electricity saved
- 100 kg of CO₂ emissions avoided
- An environmental benefit equivalent to four trees, according to our reported figures
Every contribution helps us work towards a more sustainable future by making better use of resources and supporting responsible disposal and recycling.
Showing people what we do
One of the highlights of the day was being able to demonstrate our shredding process live. Visitors could see confidential material being shredded and examine examples of the shredded material afterwards, giving them a much clearer understanding of what happens to their documents.
Our gazebo display, featuring bales, boxes, bags and a cabinet, was also a great conversation starter. It helped us showcase the range of services we provide and gave visitors the chance to ask questions and find out more.
We received some lovely feedback, and it was clear that people genuinely valued the service. We also welcomed existing customers and local residents who already knew about our work through previous employers.
However, one thing became very clear: S4B Group is still one of East Grinstead’s best-kept secrets!
Not everyone realised that our services are available on an ongoing basis, rather than just at special community events. We hope the day helped more people discover how we can support them throughout the year.
