Secure Paper Shredding for Homes and Businesses.

Secure Paper Shredding for Homes and Businesses

Secure document shredding is the process of destroying paper documents in a way that makes them unreadable and unable to be reconstructed. This is typically done using a shredder machine that cuts the paper into small pieces. There are different levels of shredding, such as strip-cutting, cross-cutting, and micro-cutting, each with a different level of security (we use cross-cutting). Secure document shredding is important for businesses and individuals alike to protect sensitive information, such as personal identification numbers, financial data, and confidential business information.

S4B Group offer shredding services to individuals as well as businesses. We shred sensitive documents, such as financial statements, medical records, and personal identification documents. These services can be scheduled on a regular basis or as a one-time event. The shredded paper is then recycled, and we can provide a certificate of destruction as proof that the documents were securely disposed of.

There are several reasons why it may be a good idea to have old paperwork shredded:

Security: Shredding old paperwork that contains personal information, such as financial statements, medical records, and personal identification documents, can help protect against identity theft.

Compliance: Some industries, such as finance and healthcare, have regulations that require the destruction of certain types of documents. Having a professional shredding service ensures that these regulations are being met.

Clutter: Shredding old paperwork can help declutter your home and or business and free up space.
Environmentally friendly: Shredded paper is recycled, so it’s an environmentally friendly way to dispose of old paperwork.

Peace of mind: Knowing that old paperwork has been securely and properly disposed of can give you peace of mind.

Can I witness my documents being shredded?

Yes, you can see your documents being securely shredded. We offer off-site shredding at our East Grinstead premises, you can watch the shredding process in person which we term as “witnessed shredding” where we shred the documents in front of you, giving you the peace of mind that your documents are being securely shredded. You will also receive a certificate of destruction for your records, which certifies that your documents have been securely shredded.
We can provide a live video feed of the shredding process if the client cannot be present during the shredding process.

Once my documents have been shredded, what happens next?

Once your files have been securely shredded, the shredded paper is taken on to a recycling facility. At the paper mill, the shredded paper will go through a process called pulping, where it is mixed with water and chemicals to break down the fibres and create a slurry. The slurry is then cleaned, screened, and pressed to remove any remaining contaminants, such as plastic or metal. The resulting material is called “recycled pulp,” which can be used to create new paper products such as cardboard, tissue paper, and paperboard.

Not all shredding services are equal

It’s worth nothing that not all shredding services recycle the shredded paper, it depends on the service providers, so it’s always a good idea to check with the service provider to see if they recycle the shredded paper. Not everyone who says they will shred your paper has the capacity or machinery to do it! They often send it to a third party who will then collect it from them and it will go on from there. Make sure your shredding service provider can evidence that they are shredding your paper securely.

Not sure if you want to shred old documents?

Recycling: Most communities have curb side recycling programs that accept paper products, including old documents. However, it’s important to note that recycling old documents will not completely protect your personal information. If you have shredded the paperwork on a home shredder some local authorities will not accept shredded paper.

Storage: You can store old documents in a safe, secure location, such as a fireproof safe or safety deposit box. This can be a good option if the documents have historical or sentimental value. If you are looking at off-site storage, S4B provide archive storage from just 2.5p per box per week

Donating: You can donate old documents to a local library, historical society, or school for use in research or education.

Shredding event: We arrange an annual shredding event where residents can bring their old documents to be shredded for free.

It’s always a good idea to check with your local government or waste management services to see what options are available in your area.

What could happen if my personal information gets taken?

This isn’t scare mongering it’s important to be honest about the possible ramifications, If your personal information gets taken, it can lead to a variety of negative consequences, including:
